Western Digital laid off 80 workers at its Fremont facility Wednesday, about 6% of the staff, in the second round of downsizing at the location in the past three years.
Western Digital was fined $62,500 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency earlier this year for the improper management of hazardous waste at the Fremont facility.
