Start-Up Maginatics in Stealth Mode
Will unveil cloud storage software on August 27.

On August 27 at VMWorld, it will officially launch a product focused on cloud storage. The idea of the company is solve two pain points enterprises face today:
- the need to manage rapid growth in online data by tapping into public or private cloud storage, and
- enable access by the increasing number of mobile devices entering organizations.
Maginatics is backed by two unknown large storage firms and one investor is Devesh Garg, managing partner in Bessemer’s Menlo Park office, that formerly invests in Sibyte, PA Semi and Avnera.
Its team includes:
- Amarjit Gill, co-founder and CEO, former co-founder and CEO of Agnilux, co-founder and EVP at P.A. Semi (acquired by Apple), co-founder, VP sales and business development at SiByte (acquired by Broadcom),
- Jay Kistler, co-founder and CTO, former VP engineering at Yahoo!
- Andrew Gaul, senior engineer
- Mark Schreiber, senior software engineer, previously at Riverbed
- Bruno Raimondo, senior director of product management
- Nick Cox, director of product management
- Timur Alperovich, Deepti Chheda, Rajiv Desai, Andrew Gaul, Diwaker Gupta, Hong Jiang, Vaibhav Kamra, Julio Lopez, Alex Loukissas, Virgil Mihailovici, Nathan Rosenblum, Vibhav Sreekanti, and Alex Vorbau, members of technical staff
