Seagate Technology International, Scotts Valley, CA, has been assigned a patent (8,238,054) developed by Tae Young Kim, Yongin-si, South Korea, and Chang-Hwan Lee, Seoul, South Korea, for a "hard disk drive having desiccant member."

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A hard disk drive effectively removes internal humidity therefrom and thus improves the reliance and performance of the hard disk drive in high and increased humidity environments."
