To demo how Fusion ioFX accelerates applications
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 9, 2012 at 2:58 pmFusion-io, Inc. collaborated with many entertainment technology companies to demonstrate how the Fusion ioFX can accelerate powerful entertainment production applications at SIGGRAPH 2012.
The Fusion ioFX is being used to boost application performance in demonstrations with many hardware and software firms at the show, including Adobe, ASSIMILATE, Boxx Technologies, Thinkbox Software, Tweak Software, NextComputing, Maingear Computers, Supermicro and ProMAX.
"Digital artists rely on Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium to capture their ideas and bring them to life," said Bill Roberts, director of video product management at Adobe Systems, Inc. "The Fusion ioFX provides artists who are using data-intensive media with a faster workflow, making it ideal for accelerating visual effects and motion graphics work from broadcast design all the way to 4K stereoscopic compositing."
Designed to eliminate data bottlenecks that slow the creative production process for digital artists, the Fusion ioFX enables creative professionals to meet deadlines while exploring more artistic possibilities by bridging the performance gap between workstations and powerful digital content creation applications. From footage capture in the field, to post-production of the film, the ioFX is architected for uninterrupted manipulation of digital content in real time.
ASSIMILATE’s SCRATCH DI tool was featured in the Fusion-io booth to playback 4K uncompressed video content in real-time.
"SCRATCH is the industry’s premier conform, color grading and finishing solution designed to meet the unique requirements of file-based workflows in film, television and commercials," said Steve Bannerman, VP of Marketing at ASSIMILATE Technology, Inc. "We’re looking forward to showcasing SCRATCH along with Fusion-io at SIGGRAPH 2012 to demonstrate how our artists can accelerate their DI workflow with the ioFX to get uncompressed 4K playback with room to spare."
At SIGGRAPH, Fusion-io unveiled the winners of the Project ioFX video production contest on August 8. Project ioFX was created to free artists from creative constraints to tell the ioFX story in their own words. Artists were asked to create their own 60-second short and share it on the Fusion ioFX Facebook page. Selected from over 60 entries by Project ioFX judges Steve Wozniak, Danny Trejo and Rob Legato, the grand prize winner received a Fusion ioFX, a Red Scarlet Camera, Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium software, Maingear workstation and other prizes.
"Fusion-io is pleased to be teaming up with many of the industry’s most trusted solution providers to help usher in a new era of creativity in visual effects production," said Vincent Brisebois, Fusion-io director of Visual Computing. "When wait times are nearly eliminated with the power of Fusion ioMemory for the workstation, artists can explore more creative possibilities, and application developers can again work on adding more new features without worrying about complexity and processing speeds. With the support of the industry visionaries we’re working with at SIGGRAPH 2012, the ioFX is ushering in a revolution from the largest of studios to boutiques and even independent artists."
