With this alliance IBM would be strengthening Sakthi Auto Component’s IT
hardware environment and enabling them to be more agile and customer centric
with faster time to information.
Sakthi Auto is a supplier of critical components like steering knuckles,
brake drums, brake discs, hubs, brake calipers, and carriers, to car
manufacturers such as Maruti Udyog Ltd., Hyundai, Ind Auto Ltd., Ford, and
Honda Siel Cars, among others.
Sakthi Auto components wanted to enjoy the benefits of virtualization
capabilities through its partnership with IBM, which would lead to higher ROI for them. Also, to cope up with a competitive market
environment, the company needed a robust and cost effective hardware
solution.
Sakthi Auto engaged IBM to help consolidate their IT infrastructure
with IBM’s robust System X servers and Storwize V7000 storage solutions to
integrate their operation.
"We wanted to move towards a scalable
environment with reduced costs and improved performance. For us, it was important
to have an IT partner who had the expertise and solution that would help us
achieve our objective of unifying our existing servers and continuing our
operations, centralized from our Datacenter", said R.Varadharajan, assistant
GM – IT, Sakthi Group. "This move
would also be valuable to us in terms of providing scalability to our business
and making faster business decisions."
With a more reliable and resilient IT infrastructure, Shakti Auto will be able
to provide better customer services and continue with their growth objectives.
"Today, businesses want to create a
simple yet dynamic IT set up at minimum cost. Also having a centralized
operations system helps a business evade inevitable complexity and intricacy.
IBM believes in assisting businesses by offering solutions which help in
delivering value to their customers with greater ease", said Girish
Vasudevan, branch manager – Chennai, IBM General Business, India/South Asia.
Coimbatore is an important city for IBM. It has experienced rapid economic
growth in recent years due to the development of the local textile,
manufacturing and IT services. IBM launched an office in Coimbatore last year
and has since been working with clients in the region to provide
software solutions, technologies and services.
Another component of IBM’s strategy is the effort to cultivate local
technology talent. Towards this IBM is partnering with local colleges and
universities in Coimbatore, as part its global academic program to help teach
students the information technology skills.
