SIS Joins Zerto Ecosystem
To offer real-time DR to businesses
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 7, 2012 at 3:08 pmSIS, a solutions provider, has joined the Zerto Ltd.‘s Cloud DR Ecosystem (ZCE), a network of cloud service providers that will utilize Zerto’s virtual replication technology to offer cost-effective real-time DR and BC services to clients.
Zerto’s Virtual Replication 2.0 platform – the latest version of the company’s hypervisor-based replication solution – allows businesses to take advantage of a software-only, automated storage-agnostic DR solution. The technology provides the granularity required in complex enterprise infrastructures without compromising performance, scalability, flexibility, mobility, reporting or simplicity of operation. Designed for tier-one applications deployed on a virtual infrastructure, ZVR 2.0 combines near-continuous replication with block-level application-consistent data protection across hosts and storage.
Until now, cloud-based DR for production applications has been complex, cost-prohibitive and largely ineffective. Cloud service providers were required to have exactly the same storage types as their customers, and cloud-based DR options were inflexible, labor intensive and difficult to scale. Hypervisor-based replication acts independently of the hardware and mirrors the flexibility of the hypervisor, eliminating the requirements for identical environments. ZVR 2.0 makes the cloud more resilient, delivering the tight service level agreements that mission-critical applications require with the benefits and flexibility of a cloud environment.
"Service providers are eager to offer DR that not only works more effectively with their cloud environments but also meets the rigorous standards set by their clients for DR services," said Ziv Kedem, Zerto co-founder and CEO. "With our technology, SIS can deliver multi-tenant cloud-based DR at a reasonable price, enabling clients to replace their primary or secondary data centers and benefit from cloud automation and flexibility."
SIS will offer two Zerto-powered cloud DR options: DR as a Service, which protects on-premise applications to the cloud; and In-Cloud DR, which protects applications deployed in the cloud and replicates them to a secondary cloud datacenter. Customers can choose one or both of these options to protect critical applications and data.
"SIS has been helping clients build private clouds for more than a decade, and DR and BC are often significant drivers of this initiative," said Steve Sigg, president and CEO of SIS. "The Zerto cloud offering brings to the market a unique product that fills a current gap in availability for virtualized workloads. Zerto allows SIS to leverage its Managed Solution Center to provide a robust and aggressive level of cloud-based recoverability that historically would have required a much more significant investment and architectural effort to deliver. Our partnership with Zerto is a real game-changer, giving clients a way to increase the functionality of their DR environments while taking advantage of cost-effective data protection for their production applications."
