Nexsan NST5000 Price/Performance Leader in Hybrid Storage
And selected over NetApp, according to customer survey
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 31, 2012 at 2:47 pmNexsan Corporation announced that its NST5000 Unified Hybrid Storage Systems have received high marks in a recent customer satisfaction survey.
Customers report that they have seen up to 10 times performance improvements with NST5000 systems when compared to traditional spinning disk storage systems. It was also ranked as the leading price/performance solution in its class.
"The NST5000 system came highly recommended to us by a trusted reseller. Both the dollar-per-I/O and cost per GB are outstanding," said Keith Cox, Information Technology Specialist, City of Lilburn, GA. "Once installed, it certainly did not disappoint. We’ve been very impressed with both its performance and ease-of-use in support of our business applications."
With performance and a cost per gigabyte of $.65, NST5000 customers who took this survey indicated they are using the storage system for transaction intensive environments, including virtualized server storage, virtual desktop infrastructure, cloud computing, business applications, databases and email server storage. In addition to the standard SAN offering, the NST5000 offers a NAS interface enabling applications such as video editing and streaming, disk-backup and archive storage.
There are also customers using the system for big data and scientific computing, where a balance of performance and capacity are required.
In the majority of cases, NST5000 Unified Hybrid Storage Systems were selected over products from NetApp, but were also chosen over solutions from other vendors.
"For customers looking to get the greatest amount of productivity and overall value from their storage investments, the Nexsan NST5000 is the perfect solution," said Doug Cole, Owner, LH Computer Services, a Nexsan channel partner. "With its FASTier acceleration technology, it offers exceptional performance and capacity for a range of applications. It is also affordably priced for budget-sensitive organizations whose storage needs continue to grow."
NST5000 Hybrid Storage systems deliver performance without the capacity limitations and high price points of SSD-only solutions. Hybrid Storage systems with FASTier intelligently optimize caching by utilizing DRAM and flash-based solid state memory, along with spinning media, to multiply real-world random I/O performance. The systems deliver true performance for block and file data, sending both types of traffic through the NST5000 high-end solid-state based controllers. The results are performance for both sequential and random I/O.
"There is an ever increasing requirement to optimize price/performance in storage solutions and our next generation Unified Hybrid Storage Systems are filling the need," said Victoria Grey, SVP, Marketing, Nexsan. "Nexsan’s NST5000 delivers the I/O performance that business applications need without the high cost and capacity limitations of SSD-only solutions. For many companies, this strikes the perfect balance."
