Liongate Capital Management Deploys Tintri VM-Aware Flash Storage Appliance

For Exchange, SQL Server, Active Directory, SharePoint, etc.

Tintri, Inc., producer of purpose-built, VM-aware storage appliances, announced that Liongate Capital Management LLP, an investment management firm, has deployed all of its production server VMs on Tintri at one of its global data centers.

Liongate chose Tintri to support mission-critical applications including Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Active Directory, and SharePoint, among others, after evaluating a number of storage options.

Liongate has four offices worldwide and manages over U.S. $3 billion in capital assets.

Liongate had previously employed a mix of traditional FC and iSCSI block storage systems to support their virtual environment, but ran in to challenges as they began virtualizing more production applications.

"The performance of our existing storage simply could not keep up with the demands of our virtual infrastructure," said Dustin Mommen, systems manager for Liongate Capital Management. "At peak times, one busy application could bring the storage to its knees."

By replacing several storage arrays with a single Tintri VMstore appliance, Liongate eliminated the storage performance issues and simplified storage management. Additionally, it provided enhanced metrics by allowing Liongate to monitor and troubleshoot performance on a per-VM basis.

"The Tintri T540 storage appliance is a perfect fit for our virtual infrastructure," said Mommen. "It delivers the performance we need with ample room to spare for future growth in our virtual infrastructure. What’s more, we have been able to drastically improve the level of insight we have into our virtual deployment for much more efficient troubleshooting."

"The problem Liongate faced – improving storage performance for increasingly virtualized workloads – is common one that we’ve solved for a number of customers in the financial services industry," said Kieran Harty, Tintri CEO. "It has become abundantly clear that general purpose arrays can be cumbersome to the performance of mission critical applications in a virtualized environment. The Tintri approach dramatically simplifies the storage infrastructure and delivers flash-based performance specifically designed to help customers like Liongate take full advantage of virtualization."
