This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 19, 2012 at 3:01 pmOracle Corp. announced StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library.
An archive and data protection solution for midsize and growing businesses, it scales from 30 to 300 slots and up to 900TB of capacity (using 2:1 compression), giving customers room to grow in a single tape library and reducing service, installation and capital expenditure costs.
Benefits of StorageTek SL150
- offers space savings and can offer 40% higher density than competitive products.
- can be deployed and expanded at up to 75% lower acquisition cost than comparable midrange solutions (comparison between StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library and the Quantum i500, based on library and drive acquisition cost and does not include media and service.).
- offers simple, streamlined management via a graphical user interface built on Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Linux. Users can view and navigate drive, library and media information without dealing with cumbersome file structure drill-downs as in other solutions.
- can be installed in 30 minutes and capacity can be added using the library’s USB-based auto-discovery system to find new expansion modules.
- supports a range of open systems environments, providing an integrated protection and archive solution with Oracle 11g Recovery Manager, Oracle Secure Backup, Oracle StorageTek Tape Analytics, Oracle’s StorageTek Automated Cartridge System Library Software (ACSLS) and Oracle’s Sun Storage Archive Manager software. Operating systems and platforms include Oracle Solaris and Oracle Linux, Oracle Exadata Database Machine, Oracle Database Appliance, Oracle’s SPARC and Sun x86 servers, and Oracle’s Sun Storage.
