This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 19, 2012 at 3:00 pmAstute Networks,Inc. has appointed Len Rosenthal as SVP of marketing.
He will lead Astute Networks’ global corporate, product, and channel marketing efforts as the company continues the sales and expansion for its family of ViSX appliances, powered by the patented DataPump Engine.
In 2012, although more than 60 million virtual machines will be deployed, only about 39% (V-index.com, Virtualization Penetration Rate, September, 2011) of applications will have been virtualized. The overwhelming majority of business-critical applications have yet to be virtualized, primarily due to challenges around maintaining performance for these I/O-intensive applications.
ViSX appliances overcome these challenges by accelerating performance for virtualized server and desktop environments. Astute Networks offers a technology that is timed with the market opportunity and a company that is positioned with the funding and experienced management team to capitalize on it.
"Len’s innovative marketing expertise combined with his tremendous depth of experience in the virtualization and storage industry will result in marketing, channels, and sales enablement campaigns that will have a direct impact on our continued market momentum," said Steve Topper, CEO, Astute Networks. "I’m very pleased to have him join our executive leadership team as we continue to build on our strategy for market leadership and long term success."
Reporting directly to Topper, Rosenthal will oversee Astute Networks’ initiatives for corporate marketing, product marketing, product management, channel marketing and sales enablement. Among the programs under his direction will be activities for public relations, field marketing, promotions, events, product planning, social media, advertising, communications, Web presence, as well as demand and lead generation.
Rosenthal has over 26 years of experience in marketing at leading public and privately-held information technology companies. Prior to joining Astute Networks, he was VP marketing at virtual infrastructure performance monitoring company Virtual Instruments, responsible for marketing strategy and implementation including product marketing, corporate marketing and marketing communications. Before that, he was the CMO at Panasas. Previous to Panasas, he held executive marketing leadership positions with QLogic, PathScale, Inktomi Corporation, Silicon Graphics, and has held various server product line management positions at Hewlett-Packard.
Rosenthal has an MBA from the Haas Business School at the University of California at Berkeley, a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School.
"Astute Networks has an impressive combination of technology innovation, product differentiation and expert leadership to capitalize on a market that is truly ripe with opportunity," said Rosenthal. "I look forward to driving the company’s marketing and channel partner initiatives as we capitalize on Astute Networks’ stable of game changing flash solutions for customers who want to accelerate the performance of their virtual applications and maximize the value of their virtualization investment."
