Sanbolic Melio Featured in Intel ESAA Recipe

For clustering SQL Server on Intel server platforms

Sanbolic, Inc. announced that its Melio software for Microsoft SQL Server Clustering is featured in a new Intel Enabled Solution Acceleration Alliance (ESAA) recipe.

The recipe, or solution guide, outlines how to get the most out of clustering Microsoft SQL Server on Intel Server platforms.

Intel ESAA gives resellers and direct Intel OEMs access to a range of pre-validated configuration guides (recipes) jointly developed by Intel and independent hardware and software vendors (IxVs).

Intel resellers, OEMs and Intermediate eXperimental Vehicles, as well as end users for whom the solutions are intended, will find the new recipe, the Melio and SQL 2008R2 Guide, well-timed as organizations continue to struggle with the cost and complexity of configuring, managing and protecting large SQL Server implementations.

With its capabilities, Melio data management platform helps organizations overcome these challenges, which are so often rooted in traditional storage architectures that require multiple volumes in order to achieve granular failover in clustered SQL Server deployments.

By enabling optimal storage utilization, simplified database management (i.e., eliminating database sprawl), live storage/data migration, and QoS that ensures performance of critical SQL Server workloads, Melio delivers a solution for SQL Server consolidation and HA in physical, virtual and mixed environments.

"We included Sanbolic’s Melio data management software as a key component in the ‘Sanbolic Melio and Microsoft SQL 2008R2 Guide’ guide because its industry-unique features and functionality help users overcome the numerous challenges associated with SQL Server clustering while delivering enhanced storage performance and availability, as well as providing the ability to scale out, not just up," said Rick Cecil, Intel ESAA architect at Intel Corp.

"Providing active-active access to storage eliminates the need for individual server/storage silos, thereby enhancing both server and storage utilization while reducing the management burden customers face when supporting clustered SQL Server environments. Cluster-wide data protection, granular performance management and the ability to scale deployments seamlessly offers organizations additional capabilities for protecting, managing and scaling their SQL Server environments," stated Andy Melmed, director of Enterprise Solutions at Sanbolic. "Sanbolic is delighted to have once again worked with Intel to develop another ESAA recipe. It is a seal of approval for which we are understandably proud."

Additional Sanbolic recipes featured
under the Intel ESAA program include:

  • Building Virtual Datacenters with Melio and Hyper-V R2
  • Implementing VDI with Melio and Citrix XenDesktop 5.0
  • Creating Scalable File-serving Clusters with Melio and Microsoft Server 2008 R2
  • Clustering SQL Server with Melio and SQL Server 2008 R2
