Pappas
will join 12 other members of the industry on the board of directors
that is charged with oversight of the association’s vision and mission
as well as ensuring that tangible value accrues to member companies.
"The addition of Mr. Pappas will bring years of seasoned and proven
standards development and Association leadership skills to our
organization," said Wayne M. Adams, chairman of the SNIA. "As we
continue to expand our technical leadership in areas including Solid
State Storage, Cloud Computing and Green IT as well as strengthen our
cross-industry alliances that benefit the global industry, the addition
of Mr. Pappas’ experiences and insights will be very valuable to our
organization."
Pappas brings more than 30 years of industry experience with building,
running and managing dozens of industry associations and cross-industry
initiatives. He is currently the chair of the Solid State Disk Form Factor Working Group and co-chair of the InfiniBand Trade Association and was also a founding director of the PCI Special Interest Group and The Green Grid as well as founding chairman of the USB Special Interest Group.
He added: "I believe strongly that the industry-at-large is best
served when standards are developed and companies design innovative
products, enabled by those standards. Being on the SNIA Board of
Directors is an honor and I am excited to join an Association that has a
track record for providing standardize technology, best practices and
education to the industry for 15 years."
