Arkivum Achieves ISO27001 Certification
In data security standard
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 9, 2012 at 3:03 pmData archiving specialist Arkivum Limited has achieved internationally-recognised ISO 27001 certification for its entire operation from ISO accredited certification body, Certification Europe.
ISO 27001 is the international standard for an information security management system (ISMS). ISMS is a systematic approach to managing confidential or sensitive corporate information so that it remains secure (which means available, confidential and with its integrity intact). It encompasses people and processes as well as IT systems.
The standard has been awarded to Arkivum following two auditing rounds and nine months of preparation, which is half the average time for organisations to complete the process. In total, the UK company has met 138 controls, as well as having put various policies and procedures in place, which cover all information, assets and employees.
Certification lasts three years, during which time observational visits are made every six months to ensure Arkivum is still meeting the required standards.
"Arkivum’s certification to ISO 27001 in just nine months demonstrates exceptional dedication to securing clients’ data and its commitment to providing a first class service," comments Dr. John Ryan, commercial director of Certification Europe. "Arkivum can now reassure all of its customers that it’s operating to the optimum levels for information security."
"I am delighted that we have achieved ISO27001 certification from Certification Europe," says Jim Cook, CEO and founder of Arkivum. "This certification demonstrates to our customers that we take the security of their data extremely seriously. In the realm of data archiving, trust is the number one quality. Customers need to trust that their information is kept securely, that its confidentiality and integrity are maintained, while still being readily available whenever they need it. We have always ensured this at Arkivum; which is reflected in the ISO certification."
