This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 21, 2012 at 2:49 pmPivot3, Inc. announced a summer special VDI startup bundle to help organizations deploy virtual desktop environments quickly and cost-effectively.
Code-named VARROOOOM with a View, the Pivot3 VDI startup bundle is available through August 31, 2012, and offers customers pre-configured, ready-to-deploy virtual desktops at $350 each for a starter 250 HA package. Additional desktops are more cost-effective as the system scales with more appliances.
"Pivot3 is continuing to make it even easier for customers of all sizes to enjoy the advantages of VDI," said Raj Mallempati, director, product marketing at VMware. "The new summer startup bundle offers organizations a plug-and-play VMware-certified solution that can scale as needed, and fits with their IT budgets and goals."
Summer special VDI startup bundle includes:
- Three purpose built VDI appliances: Three high performance failover protected VDI appliances; 36 Xeon cores, 288GB RAM, 600GB SLC SSD, 6x 10GE ports; 9TB scale-out iSCSI SAN
- StormCatcher software: massively parallel software that dissipates login storms
- Performance Assurance: persistent SAN storage that assures performance during component or full appliance failures
- Unified Flash Cache – Microflash accelerators improve desktop performance by 10x
"This high-availability bundle recognizes the importance of assured performance for a VDI system of any size", said Lee Caswell, founder and chief strategy officer of Pivot3. "We have yet to find the administrator who can tolerate downtime or unpredictable performance when hundreds of desktop users are involved. The new bundle pricing makes Pivot3 an obvious choice for cost-sensitive customers with demanding users."
With online certification, training and configuration tools, as well as the Pivot3 online Test Drive demo system, this new offering includes training and support. As part of the VMware Rapid Desktop Program, the startup bundle includes packaging for resellers, allowing for scale-out pilot to production VDI on the fly in 60 minutes or less.
"By offering a complete, simple and packaged VDI solution, Pivot3 is accelerating VDI deployments and creating strong opportunities for the channel," said Kevin Underwood, director of storage solutions at EST Group, LLC. "We expect the bundle to be a welcome summer IT relief for organizations running 250 or more desktops."
"Pivot3’s VDI bundle is a value-added offering for our VMware View solution providers, who are racing to deliver a complete yet cost-effective virtual desktop infrastructure," said Chuck Bartlett, VP and GM, advanced infrastructure solutions (AIS) at Tech Data. "We are pleased to add Pivot3’s VDI bundle to our AIS offering and look forward to making it available to our channel of resellers."
"Virtual desktops are an exciting new technology designed to fit the mobile, secure workforce," said Johan de Villiers, regional director at First Technology, South Africa’s single-source providers of IT products and services. "We are excited to see how Pivot3 makes virtual desktops more affordable and manageable."
