MultiPlan Deployed Two GridIron TurboCharger Appliances Into SAN
Performance gains of "up to 500%"
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 12, 2012 at 2:50 pmGridIron Systems, Inc. announced that MultiPlan, Inc. has adopted its OneAppliance TurboCharger to
fast track delivery of healthcare cost management solutions.
Since deploying TurboCharger, MultiPlan has experienced improvements in its
ability to meet SLAs, produce business
intelligence reports, and deliver new functionality to concurrent users
throughout its network. In addition, MultiPlan has estimated that it has saved
$400,000 in storage infrastructure capital expenditure with its TurboCharger
deployment.
As the oldest, largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare
cost management solutions in the United States, MultiPlan depends on rapid
access to data. The company now processes in excess of 110 million claims per
year through their networks, so maintaining stringent response time SLAs while
experiencing rapid growth was a concern. Servicing 900,000 contracted
healthcare providers and 57 million consumers places extreme demands for
concurrent access, scalability, and 24×7 availability on MultiPlan’s data
warehouse storage infrastructure.
"Rapid business growth is
driving us to stay ahead of the curve with our IT infrastructure,"
said Keith Bush, SVP of IT and CIO at MultiPlan. "GridIron has enabled us to cost-effectively
scale our infrastructure and speed up business applications by eliminating the
I/O bottlenecks that were making it a challenge to meet SLAs. The deployment
was completely non-disruptive to our business applications and we have improved
productivity while leveraging existing systems and processes."
MultiPlan deployed two GridIron GT-1100A TurboCharger appliances
into its SAN in an active-active cluster. Sitting between the
storage and the servers, TurboCharger appliances record the data access
patterns of applications, including MultiPlan’s Oracle data warehouse and
business intelligence applications.
TurboCharger predictively caches the data
that is critical to application performance in its RAM and Flash tiers and
makes it available to applications at microseconds latencies. For MultiPlan,
this has resulted in performance gains of up to 500%. Reports that previously
took 123 hours to complete now finish in 25 hours, enabling timely and
efficient decision making. MultiPlan also reports that it has accelerated its
delivery of new business functions because developers are more productive in
leveraging usage of shared data assets enabled by TurboCharger’s ability to
allow concurrent access from multiple applications to the same databases.
"Companies with 24×7
operations require solutions that cause minimal to no disruption to critical
business applications. Customers like MultiPlan rely on highly available,
responsive business intelligence and data warehouses to run their businesses
and keep their customers happy," said Prasad Pammidimukkala, VP of marketing
at GridIron Systems. "GridIron’s
TurboCharger is the only solution in the market today that can be deployed to
deliver high performance storage access without disrupting existing operations.
We are delighted that MultiPlan is seeing such high-value benefits from our Big
Data acceleration solutions. It’s very rewarding to be part of their progress
in driving down healthcare costs."
