This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 8, 2012 at 3:02 pmAfter a series of minor updates, ARTEC IT Solutions AG‘s EMA release 4.3 will be made available on June 18, 2012.
Version 4.3 contains support for a number of new data sources for archiving, an updated e-mail import utility, as well as additional enhancements that are not immediately visible. As usual, the update will be made available automatically on June 18, 2012.
New Data Sources
Users can now optionally integrate the following data sources into archive:
- File to Archive: allows to integrate all CIFS and NCP network shares into your archive using customizable archiving policies.
- Scan to Archive: also available in a version specifically tailored to large organizations (Enterprise Edition), includes a scan engine with OCR support. Furthermore, workflows allow to extract data from scanned documents and pass it to the archive as attributes. This process can be performed manually or automatically.
- Voice to Archive: gives the ability to record and archive voice communication in addition to text. Connectivity options allow for customized integration into infrastructure.
These new data sources are optional features, which can be enabled for each EMA. They turn EMA into a comprehensive information management system.
Storage
- Support for NetApp SnapLock: The minimum retention period can now be transferred to a NetApp SnapLock storage system automatically.
- Improved File System for Storage Groups: A new file system, which was optimized for storage groups, improves reliability and increases performance.
- Support for S3: for cloud storage
Setup
- Support for Archiving via the WAN Interface: In addition to using the LAN interface, it is possible to configure the WAN interface for archiving.
- Support for LDAP and Active Directory Delegate Synchronization: EMA can synchronize delegation rules by querying them from an LDAP or Active Directory server.
- Automatic Setting of Attribute Values via LDAP or Active Directory: Predefined values in LDAP or Active Directory can be added as attributes to each document. This allows, among other things, to define individual retention periods per e-mail address or user account.
User Interface
- User Interface in Spanish: For Spanish speaking customers, the user interface is available in Spanish.
- PDF Preview Support in Viewer: PDF documents from Scan to Archive or Print to Archive can be shown directly in the viewer.
- Settings for Various LDAP Filters: Delegates and message filters can now be configured to use LDAP-based filters.
MailImport
- New MailImport Enterprise Edition: The new EMA Enterprise Importer includes improvements based on customer feedback and a number of features that simplify automated bulk imports of mailboxes.
- New MailImport Standard Edition: Mail Import Standard Edition is now based on the technology of the Enterprise Edition and provides optional support for extensive customizing, which allows administrators to specify predefined values or restrict the available program options. This is useful if the software will be distributed to end users.
- Improved Support for Lotus Notes: The new Lotus Notes plug-in allows the direct import of NSF files.
- PST Creator: The PST Creator allows to create PST files directly from exported ZIP files. The new user interface with a number of small improvements makes the conversion process easier.
Archiving
- Support for Private E-Mails: If an email message is marked as private in Outlook before it is sent, Outlook will add a special header to the message. EMA can now detect this header and automatically set the ‘Private’ attribute if it exists. Messages marked as private are not visible to other users; not even to delegates assigned in EMA.
- Support for Multi-Tenancy: EMA can now assign values to the ‘Client Organization’ attribute by connecting to an LDAP server and reading them from specific LDAP fields.
- Support for Multiple LDAP Servers: EMA now supports using multiple LDAP servers when reading LDAP information that will be used as attribute values.
Miscellaneous
- Disable Warning Messages: The yellow information bars can now be turned off for users using an option file.
- Four-Eye-Principle: The restore feature can now be restricted using Four-Eye-Principle authentication.
- Improved Access via HTTPS: To enhance security, secure access via HTTPS is only possible using SSLV3 or TLSV1.
- Trusted EMA: EMA now contains additional protection against unauthorized access by using Trusted EMA in conjunction with TPM technology.
- HA: The smaller S400 and S800 appliances can now also be ordered with redundant power supplies.
