Mellanox Announces Ethernet and IB Interconnect Solutions

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced that its Ethernet and IB interconnect solutions are available through HP to deliver application performance for the new HP ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8) servers.

Specific products available include: Mellanox ConnectX-3 PCIe 3.0 FDR 56Gb/s IB adapters and 10/40GbE NICs, and SwitchX FDR 56Gb/s IB switch blades and systems. Mellanox offers the only interconnect option for the HP ProLiant Gen8 servers that includes PCIe 3.0-compliant adapters.

HP ProLiant Gen8 servers with Mellanox FDR 56Gb/s IB solutions were recently installed in Purdue University to create the ‘Carter’ supercomputer, ranked 54th in the November 2011 TOP500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers. The new 648-node supercomputer provides Purdue with double the performance over their previous supercomputer at only half the server count.
