Mellanox Announces Ethernet and IB Interconnect Solutions
For HP ProLiant Gen8 servers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 1, 2012 at 2:55 pmMellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced that its Ethernet and IB interconnect solutions are available through HP to deliver application performance for the new HP ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8) servers.
Specific products available include: Mellanox ConnectX-3 PCIe 3.0 FDR 56Gb/s IB adapters and 10/40GbE NICs, and SwitchX FDR 56Gb/s IB switch blades and systems. Mellanox offers the only interconnect option for the HP ProLiant Gen8 servers that includes PCIe 3.0-compliant adapters.
HP ProLiant Gen8 servers with Mellanox FDR 56Gb/s IB solutions were recently installed in Purdue University to create the ‘Carter’ supercomputer, ranked 54th in the November 2011 TOP500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers. The new 648-node supercomputer provides Purdue with double the performance over their previous supercomputer at only half the server count.
"The interconnect plays a significant role in reducing data center CAPEX and OPEX," said Chuck Tybur, VP of Sales, Americas and Global OEM Accounts at Mellanox. "Mellanox delivers the most effective interconnect solutions for the HP ProLiant G8, enabling the highest compute and storage performance at the lowest cost and power consumption."
"Customers demand increased compute power from their server investments without expanding system footprint or energy use," said Lee Fisher, Hyperscale Fabrics product marketing, HP. "The new HP ProLiant Gen8 servers, combined with next generation interconnect components from Mellanox deliver the fastest speed and lowest latency I/O for accelerating applications in high performance areas such as scientific research, financial services and social media."
