With model 1090, Barracuda Backup extends its backup capabilities to protect even larger environments with 90TB of storage and allows customers to manage all their backups up on a single platform.

"Barracuda Networks continues to address tremendous market demand to simplify business backups by providing an end-to-end solution for protecting servers and applications in both physical and virtual environments," said Guy Suter, GM of the backup business. "The need for backup simplification spans all businesses, regardless of how much data they need to protect. The introduction of the Barracuda Backup Server 1090 is a direct result of customers asking for a single platform to use Barracuda’s end-to-end backup solution in larger environments. It’s this innovation and the continued commitment to our customers that drives our backup business, making it the fastest growing product at the company."

The Backup Server 1090 is a solution for customers protecting up to 45-50TB of primary data, with the ability to store nearly 90TB of data including retention files and histories. Customers experience storage savings 20 to 50 times greater than the storage needed for traditional backup methods. Additionally, it offers much faster speeds with 10GbE.

"The City of San Francisco’s famous transportation system supports one of the most travelled cities in the world which creates a growing data storage requirement. As a Barracuda customer, we are impressed with how the company helps us meet this challenge," said Hoppers Hopkins, IT Manager at The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. "The new 1090 gives us the space we need in a simple, single backup platform."

The Backup Server 1090 ships in a 4U chassis with (34) 3TB drives in RAID 60, powered by 32 cores and features large mirrored enterprise SSD drives to deliver fast database IO performance. Its hardware configuration combines with backup technology to make this new class of backup appliance big and fast.

Pricing and Availability
Available, the Backup Server 1090 includes a one-time hardware purchase of a Barracuda Backup Server, priced at $135,000 in North America, with an Energize Updates subscription that includes a no per server or application backup software license, priced from $24,299 per year. Cloud storage service can be added in 200GB increments for $50 per month ($0.25/GB) or with a lower unmetered annual plan for the entire appliance.
