Daniel Berg VP Engineering, SolidFire

SolidFire, provider of all-SSD primary storage systems for cloud service providers, announced that Daniel Berg has joined the company as VP of engineering.

In his new role, he will be responsible for engineering, development and quality for the storage product line.

 Berg joins from Avaya where he served as VP of research and development. Prior to that, he was CTO and head of research and development at Skype, where he was responsible for the development of Skype’s range of technologies and products. Before that, he spent 15 years at Sun Microsystems as VP of engineering and distinguished engineer. He also held positions at IBM and Honeywell, as well as a few technology start-ups.

Berg has also authored a number of books and papers detailing Java technologies, concurrent programming and development methodologies and architecture.

"Daniel’s experience building some of the world’s largest and most complex distributed systems was very appealing to us here at SolidFire," said Dave Wright, SolidFire founder and CEO, who also wrote a blog post on this new executive appointment. Daniel brings a lot of experience to the table and is a great addition to our team."
