Salient Federal Solutions Simplifies DR

TwinStrata, Inc. announced
that Salient Federal Solutions, provider of IT, engineering, and intelligence analytic services to agencies in
the intelligence, defense, homeland security and cyber domains, has implemented
the TwinStrata CloudArray storage gateway with Veeam Backup & Replication
software for cloud-based backup and DR.

Salient uses Veeam Backup & Replication to backup several TB
from their VMware environment to a local SAN. In 2011, they made a decision to
switch from tape backup to cloud storage for offsite backup and DR.

"We were looking for a
solution that tied in easily with our Veeam Backup & Replication software
and allowed us to secure and grow our backup storage environment in the cloud,"
said Salient senior systems engineer Andrew Nosrat. "TwinStrata had both needs covered."

CloudArray iSCSI storage gateways make remote storage as fast, safe
and easy to access as local storage. CloudArray virtual or physical appliances
take minutes to configure and integrate public cloud, private cloud and local
or remote storage devices into flexible ‘Cloud SANs’ that provide unlimited
storage, CDP, tapeless offsite backup, DR, and
branch office storage consolidation.

Salient evaluated many cloud storage gateway products on the market
and chose TwinStrata CloudArray because it inter-operates with Veeam Backup
& Replication and supports a wide selection of cloud storage providers.
They took advantage of an offer allowing Veeam users to download a CloudArray
1TB virtual appliance at no cost, before upgrading to an unlimited version of
CloudArray

"Most gateways don’t give
you the option to choose your own storage provider. They lock you into a
specific cloud storage system, which can be pricey," said Nosrat.

choose from different storage providers."
