Neal Ater Industry Advisory Board’s Member, Arkeia

Was CEO of rival Atempo.

Arkeia Software, Inc. announced storage industry luminary Neal Ater has joined the company’s advisory board.

arkeia_neal_ater Ater was most recently CEO and president of data protection and archiving software provider Atempo, following the company’s merger with Storactive, where he was president and CEO. Ater’s roots in backup also extend to his position as SVP of Veritas‘ Data Protection Group, where he headed engineering and product management for backup product lines including NetBackup and Backup Exec. He was SVP of engineering at Seagate Software, and his more than 25 years of experience includes executive and advisory roles for a number of network storage and systems vendors, including the board of directors of deduplication specialist Data Domain.

"Neal joining our Industry Advisory Board brings additional depth of experience in data protection and deduplication products and technologies," says Bill Evans, CEO of Arkeia Software. "His strategic guidance complements the storage and business pedigrees of other members of our advisory board, and will be especially valuable as our partners and customers increasingly deploy Arkeia solutions for reducing backup data volumes and as a cost-effective approach to off-site and cloud storage."

"Arkeia Software impressed me for its worldwide market of loyal mid-sized users and IT solution providers, and its highly differentiated, patented Progressive Deduplication technology," said Ater. "With increasing demand for Arkeia backup and restore solutions, the company is at an important stage of growing intelligently, while staying focused on its strengths of performance, manageability, and affordability."

Industry Advisory Board also includes Phil Roussey, Larry Kubo, and Narender Oruganti. The board counsels the executive team at Arkeia in the areas of corporate development, market trends, product definition, and operations.
