CRU-DataPort announces the WiebeTech Forensic UltraDock v5, a drive imager with forensic access to bare drives.

WiebeTech’s proprietary write-block technology secures the chain of evidence with read-only access to suspect 3.5" IDE and 2.5"/3.5" SATA hard drives. Investigators can download and image contents of a suspect drive without the risk of data being written back to the drive and it is compatible with forensic acquisition and analysis software.

New features on the v5 model include an LCD screen, five ports on the host side (eSATA, USB 3.0/2.0 or FireWire 800/400), native PATA and SATA drive connections, two power options, a recessed on/off switch guard, and six status LEDs in a rugged aluminum enclosure for heat dissipation.

The LCD and menu system make it convenient to view drive information, error/warning messages, or remove HPA/DCOs. An LED turns on when it detects a hidden area on the drive. The new Forensic UltraDock v5 is 24% faster than its predecessor v4 with speeds greater than 12GB/min when used with a SSD connected over eSATA.

"I’m amazed at the amount of functionality CRU managed to pack into the new model," said Greg Dominguez of Forensic Computers, Inc. "The faster data speeds of USB3 will really decrease the time needed for capturing data and the LCD menu makes it much easier to identify and open up hidden areas on the drives."

Forensic UltraDocks are standard tools for computer forensic investigation and corporate eDiscovery. CRU-DataPort will display the Forensic UltraDock v5, in conjunction with several other forensic tools and removable and mobile data security solutions, at CEIC in Summerlin, NV, May 21-23 and at Techno Security in Myrtle Beach, SC, June 3-6.

Forensic UltraDock v5 is available through CRU resellers at MSRP $279.
