NexentaVSA Received Certification
From VMware's Rapid Desktop Program
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 3, 2012 at 3:09 pmNexenta Systems, Inc. announced that NexentaVSA for VMware View
received certification from VMware’s
Rapid Desktop Program, and is certified for deployment on any industry
standard hardware.
This enables Nexenta to further streamline and accelerate virtual desktop
infrastructure (VDI) deployments while lowering TCO.
As part of VMware’s Rapid Desktop Program certification process,
NexentaVSA for VMware View successfully completed a number of rigorous
benchmark tests, including simulating various VDI workloads on standard
Intel-based servers. NexentaVSA for VMware View is a pre-defined solution for enterprises looking to accelerate the process of
identifying, evaluating, selecting and deploying VDI solutions.
"This certification
embodies the commitment of Nexenta Systems to make VDI deployments simple and
straightforward, while lowering total cost of ownership," said Nexenta
CEO Evan Powell. "NexentaVSA for
VMware View is a breakthrough approach for simplifying and streamlining the
configuration and deployment of storage associated with virtual desktops. By
working closely with VMware, we are empowering our customers to fast-track
their VDI deployments."
NexentaVSA for VMware View is purpose built to simplify the
deployment and management of storage for VDI installations by integrating with
VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter Server, and NexentaStor virtual storage. The
solution provides real-time analytics to troubleshoot measure and monitor the
deployment. Customers are also empowered to optimise the process of sizing,
configuring and scaling their storage infrastructure for VDI.
VMware’s Rapid Desktop Program was created to help VMware partners
create solutions that facilitate the rapid deployment of VDI desktops on a
proven and certified configuration, with pre-installed and pre-configured
software.
"With the surge of big
data in the enterprise, storage of that data is a critical aspect of a
successful VDI deployment, which enables customers to implement a modern
end-user computing architecture that improves desktop administration and
management for the new era of IT," said Mason Uyeda, director,
end-user computing technical marketing, VMware. "We are pleased to be working with Nexenta as a premier partner in the
VMware View Rapid Desktop Program as they continue to bring VDI storage
services to the enterprise."
AMAX Information Technologies, Inc., a Nexenta and VMware reseller, has bundled all the hardware
components required to deploy VMware View and NexentaVSA. This integrated
solution provides customers a solution that can expedite the process of
deploying storage required to support VMware View deployments.
"VDI is a very necessary
technology in today’s enterprise landscape where companies are trying to
consolidate operational expense and stay as lean and green as possible,"
said Jean Shih, president of AMAX. "Taking
VDI one step further, customers need a plug-and-play solution that is easy to
deploy, optimised for random IO workloads, and scales according to business
needs. The AMAX solution integrates VDI and storage components into a single
hardware platform, making it both simple and cost effective to manage."
