The storage specialist presents a NAS system meeting the progressively increasing demands for rapid file access as well as for fast data recovery, data protection and easy data management.
Along with three backup servers being specific to different requirements, extension modules are also available in the series allowing to enhance the capacity of the devices.
The Backup Server Series is characterized by storage expansion and comfortable data access, guaranteeing short recovery rates as well as a simple data management.
The operating system Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition is preinstalled on every delivered product of the new series (actiNAS BS 104 optional). Beyond that both the NAS systems and the extension modules are equipped with a multitude of interfaces like LAN, AGV, USB and PCI.
All products support Intelligent Platform Management Interface v.2.0 (IPMI) and are all provided with three-year-warranty.
The backup servers offer iSCSI support and furthermore they are equipped with two GbE ports. Finally all devices provide redundant fans, rackmount kit and a lockable front basel in order to secure the access to the hard drives.

BS 104: Compact storage solution for SMB
The actiNAS BS 104 is compact with simple application function. Especially for SMS, this solution offers a high storage density and multifaceted backup opportunities in 1U format. This device disposes of 4 disk slots and achieves a maximum capacity of 12TB. It is standard equipped with the RAID Controller SATA RAID ICH10R, supporting the RAID levels 0, 1, 5 and 10. This product enables a maximum RAM capacity of 32GB.
BS 212 with high capacity,
rapidness and integrated RAID controller
The actiNAS BS 212 is the solution for users with high data traffic and with a need for long-term and future-oriented archiving and storage of data. This device does not only come up with high RAM capacity (up to 192GB), but it also offers a grand hard disk memory (up to 36TB) thanks to 12 disk slots. It is standard equipped with RAID Controller Adaptec RAID 6445 Kontroller 6Gb SAS/SATA supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 1E, 5, 5EE, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Moreover this device enables the use of up to two 64-bit Xeon processors of the types Xeon Processor 5600 (Westmere) and Xeon Processor 5500 (Nehalem-EP).
Maximum capacity with BS 424
The actiNAS BS 424 features the same applications and capabilities like the BS 212 alternative, having 24 disk slots however. As a result the maximum capacity can reach 72TB provided that all slots are equipped with 3TB HDDs.
JBODs make growth possible
The actiNAS BS JBODs also belong to the actiNAS BS product family. These devices are extension modules for the backup systems, allowing the users to increase backup server’s capacity up to 750TB. All the devices are equipped with the needed cables and interfaces. All in all there are four different JBOD alternatives: the actiNAS BS 212 JBOD comes up with 12 disk slots and a maximum capacity of 36TB, whereas the actiNAS BS 424 JBOD has got 24 slots. Furthermore the user can distinguish between the actiNAS BS 328 JBOD and finally the actiNAS BS 445 JBOD, this one with its 45 slots and a capacity of up to 135TB.
Price and availability
Both the NAS systems and the extension modules can be acquired from the authorized distribution. The prices depend on the particular capacity. The recommended end user price for the actiNAS BS 104 without drives is 2,65€ (plus tax), the actiNAS BS 424 costs 5,914€. The extension module prices depend on the capacity size, too. The price for the actiNAS BS 212 JBOD is 1,621€, whereas the actiNAS BS 445 JBOD costs 3,381€.
