Wuala Extends Free Online Storage to 5GB
From 2GB
By Jean Jacques Maleval | May 1, 2012 at 2:57 pmThree years ago Wuala, based in Switzerland, was acquired from Caleido by LaCie for $10 million. To celebrate this anniversary, it just increased free online backup storage from 2GB to 5GB, now a standard in the industry.
If you are already using Wuala, your new storage quota will be available over the next few hours. You have to sign into your account again to see your updated storage.
Wuala encrypts files before they leave your device and Wuala is not able to read them.
Like Symform, apparently successful, Wuala was offering to share stored data on the cloud on several HDD of multiple users but finally canceled this nice feature estimating that customers don’t like to see their files on other devices.
It is apparently preparing an hybrid solution with local and cloud storage.
