Windows 8 Backup Software Rolled Out by Novosoft

On Handy Backup

Novosoft LLC, a Windows data protection provider, reported the first software tests of Windows 8 backup vital functionality to succeed and Windows 8 network tests coming next.

All major Windows backup options, like Windows 8 disk imaging or backup to the cloud, are delivered by Handy Backup for the OS edition available for pre-release usage presently. Upcoming tests were also announced, oriented toward Windows 8 enterprise network backup and distributed control.

"Bringing the most of Windows backup has always been essential for us, here at Handy Backup. The software now is oriented toward multiple platforms and mixed-OS networks, but still, Windows compatibility is of major importance. So, as soon as the Windows 8 beta version has got available for download, we hurried to test the common data protection functionality by Handy Backup for the new OS. Here come the results: all the basic backup features work pretty smooth. The next step? Centralized data protection management for Windows 8 networks is what we are testing right this moment. Stay in touch," said Alexander Prichalov, the head of Novosoft Development Department.

Vital Windows 8 compatibility tests were run for Handy Backup, the certified Windows 7 backup software.

The tested options included:

  • Installation;
  • Backup to local disk;
  • Backup via Handy Backup cloud;
  • Backup of a system partition to local storage (disk imaging);
  • Restore from a local disk to another local disk;
  • Synchronization of a local and network drive;
  • Software registration;
  • Uninstallation.

The tests were run for the abridged pre-release Windows 8 version available for trial usage, with a limited number of features included.

The results of tests pointed out that all basic Windows backup options are stable for the new OS version. Specifically thorough tests were run for Windows 8 disk imaging and backup from and to external drives, as the feature of Windows 8 working from USB flash drive has been announced.

More Windows 8 backup tests were announced by Novosoft. The company reports to be presently testing the novel functionality for distributing one computer functionality over a network. The framework has been previously implemented in the Network Server software edition for backing a network from a single machine. Now the approach is extended beyond backup to other aspects of data protection.

The functionality distribution is claimed to be expected for covering Windows RT tablets, being a multi-platform and multi-device highly compatible technology.

The fully functional version of Windows 8 is reported to get available this October.

The current version of Handy Backup is 7.1.3.
