With four solutions
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 1, 2012 at 2:56 pmSTORServer, Inc., provider of data backup solutions for the mid-market, announces four product upgrades to its line of data backup appliances.
STORServer Enterprise Backup Appliances
The company, which sells exclusively through a reseller channel, now offers a backup appliance for every budget and environment.
"Efficient administration was a big challenge with our previous backup system," said Sunil Agrawal, manager of State Bank of India. "We had a tape library connected to each and every server, and an employee had to manually review the tapes each time a backup was needed. Our previous backup solution also required us to constantly purchase lots of tapes. If we had a server change, we had to buy a different tape library. Every time our model of tape was changed, we had to buy a new kind of tape. Since implementing the STORServer Enterprise Backup Appliance, we no longer have to monitor each and every tape and buy various libraries. We now have automated tape management. In addition, restores are easier than ever."
New BA Series Backup Appliance:
STORServer is unveiling its entry-level BA series backup appliance for office or datacenter customers with one to seven terabytes of data to backup, per backup appliance. It fits those customers searching for a cost-conscious, automated and one-price solution. It is a compact, fully integrated solution for backup and archive, and supports multiple disaster recovery options. Pricing on the series aggressively competes against any similar sized backup solution. The BA appliance includes a 15 terabyte disk-based storage pool driven by a six-core processor server with 32GB of memory, keeping pace with the demanding data deduplication and virtual machine backup requirements.
Updated Enterprise Backup Appliances (EBA)
Streamlined servers, new technology and functionality with larger storage choices now outline a complete update of STORServer’s appliance for enterprise operations. Customized to meet organizations’ current and future BC requirements, the EBA offers flexibility in hardware and software choices in an integrated backup, archive and DR solution that supports the enterprise. From multiple platforms and complex network schemes to remote and virtual environments, the EBA is targeted for organizations requiring less than 10TP up to 1PB of storage.
Enhanced Pricing on Instant Restore (IR) Appliances:
Based on IBM Tivoli Storage Manager FastBack, IR Appliance fits into any Windows or Linux environment as one of the least expensive and easiest to learn and manage appliance. Packaged in 2U offerings, the IR backs up and restores applications and user data within minutes while data recovery runs in the background. The IR Appliance technology maps blocks to files and application data, making it possible to restore quickly from a single snapshot. It integrates with all network connections (NAS, SAN, LAN and WAN) and hundreds of storage devices.
Stand-Alone Sales of STORServer Console (SSC):
The driving component of STORServer’s purpose-built backup appliances, SSC is available as a stand-alone console for all IBM Tivoli Storage Manager installations. The software allows users to configure and manage their Tivoli Storage Manager environment with a single user interface. Monitoring and reporting features keep users apprised of server activities in real-time with alerts available for a variety of storage conditions.
"We take great pride in offering a line of solutions that help our customers simplify backup of their data in an environment of ever-increasing complexity," said Bill Smoldt, president of STORServer. "Our latest round of product upgrades furthers our vision of providing industry leading backup appliance solutions to the mid-market that solve today’s backup, archive and disaster recovery issues once and for all."
