Backblaze Online Backup Available in Japan

Through Sourcenext

Backblaze, an online backup provider, announced that its online backup service will be available in Japan through Sourcenext Corp., the country’s largest software vendor.

The Japanese language version of Backblaze provides a zero-configuration online backup service with unlimited storage to protect the photos, movies, music, work documents, and more on consumer and business laptops and desktops.

Backblaze online backup takes less than a minute to setup – requiring nothing more than entering an email address, password, and clicking a download button. Once installed, the service automatically backups all data on the computer (excluding the operating system and applications.)

Features of the service include:

  • Automatic online backup – no need to pick and choose files or remember to backup
  • Unlimited storage – no limits so users do not need to worry
  • Automatic and unthrottled bandwidth – backup as fast as user’s connection permits
  • External drive backup – protect data even if it is on external USB or Firewire hard drives
  • Locate My Computer – assists in locating a lost or stolen computer
  • Restore – recover files to any computer or order a USB hard drive or flash drive
  • Mac and PC – supports Windows XP, Vista, 7 and Mac OSX 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7

Sourcenext has obtained the No.1 position in 6 categories in the GfK PC software sales ranking in 2011, selling tens of millions of units of software. In addition to an immensely popular online store, it sells products through over 40,000 retail establishments.

"The success of Sourcenext has been driven in large part by our ability to pick excellent products for the Japanese market," said Noriyuki Matsuda, founder and CEO, "In 2010, we picked Evernote as our leading software from the U.S. to bring to Japan. In 2012, we picked Backblaze."

94% of computer users do not back up their computers and 1 in 2 lose data every year, data loss statistic based on percentage of Backblaze customers that needed to restore data. This survey was conducted online within the United States by Harris Interactive, Inc. on behalf of Backblaze between June 28-30, 2011 among 2257 respondents.

"Backblaze has been laser-focused on helping users never lose their digital memories," said Gleb Budman, Backblaze co-founder and CEO. "I am very excited about partnering with Sourcenext to help every Japanese computer user protect their data."
