Swedish Security Company Centralizes Storage and Backup
With Proact
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 19, 2012 at 3:01 pmProact IT Group AB has
centralised the storage and backup environment for a Swedish security company.
The solution will allow the company to enhance security and reduce
administration in the system, as well as improving conditions for testing,
maintenance and development. The project began in late 2011 and will be
completed over the first six months of 2012. The contract also includes ongoing
support from Proact.
As the company has expanded both in Sweden and internationally, so
its need for reliable, efficient data storage and backup has grown.
"The company needed to
restructure its storage and backup environment so as to improve security in the
infrastructure and increase data accessibility within the company. We have
presented and implemented a centralised solution which will provide reliable
and efficient data storage and backup. At the same time, this solution will
involve less administration for the company," says Martin Ödman,
Regional Manager South at Proact.
The Swedish security company previously had a non-centralised data
storage structure which caused a lot of administration and also led to low
utilisation of disk space. As well as dealing with the challenges presented by
means of a centralised storage and backup function, the security company will
have the option of ‘cloning’ environments; i.e. creating virtual copies of the
storage environments so that testing and maintenance can be carried out.
"Testing, maintenance and
development of the storage environment used to be resource-intensive activities
in respect of both time and disk space. Cloning can be used by one person to
create a test environment within minutes, and entirely without disruption to
the production environment on which the company’s operations depend,"
says Martin Ödman.
