Nexsan Shows NST Hybrid Storage Systems
With FASTier acceleration technology
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 16, 2012 at 3:14 pmNexsan Corporation will feature product demonstrations at the 2012 NAB Show in Las Vegas from April 14-19.
This year’s event expects to attract more than 90,000 media and entertainment professionals from over 150 countries. Showing for the first time at NAB, Nexsan will introduce the newest member of the E-Series line of SAN storage systems, the E48, and will showcase the all-new NST hybrid storage systems with FASTier acceleration technology.
Demonstration One
NST5110 Hybrid Storage System with FASTier
NST unified storage systems with FASTier intelligently optimize caching by utilizing DRAM and flash-based solid state memory, along with spinning media, to multiply performance while maximizing capacity. This enables server applications to become accelerated without the costs of pure SSD systems. The NST systems combine FASTier’s software with up to 24 Xeon CPU cores, 192GB of DRAM, 12 dedicated RAID engines, and up to 1PB of storage capacity. The standalone NST5110 storage system holds 31 SATA/SAS/SSD disk drives and provides up to 93TB of capacity.
Demonstration Two
Nexsan E-Series: E18 and E48 SAN Storage Systems
Nexsan E-Series SAN storage solutions deliver performance, high density storage, power savings, and enterprise reliability that is easy to manage. Introducing and showing for the first time will be the E48 SAN storage system, delivering up to 144TB of storage in 4U, making it for performance intensive capacity driven applications. The E18 SAN storage system provides up to 54TB of storage in 2U of rack space and in recent benchmarking by openBench Labs, the E18 demonstrated 2,164 MB/second sequential I/O read performance and 1,004 MB/second write performance, highlighting the system’s performance advantages in digital video environments.
Media and entertainment professionals face the challenge of retaining all data formats, from original files on through the multiple revisions entailed in post-production. The ability to store and access all of this data in a cost-effective and efficient manner is important in order for media and entertainment companies to remain productive. Nexsan storage systems enable operators to handle demanding projects from multiple editors working on the same or different activities without storage limitations. Nexsan leverages technologies that provide industry professionals with a combination of performance, exceptional capacity and flexibility. The company’s advanced line of storage systems allow customers to optimize their investment in data center floor space while enabling higher levels of video production output.
"We deployed Nexsan’s E-Series storage systems as the backbone for our fast-paced video production and distribution operations," said Reid Steiner, director of IT Operations, Revision3. "While we initially selected the units for their reliability and performance we have since been impressed with Nexsan’s user-friendly management interface and energy efficiency. The easy-to-use yet powerful systems have increased both the productivity and operationally efficiency of our organization."
"This year’s NAB provides us with the opportunity to demonstrate how Nexsan storage systems have evolved to support high-bandwidth applications in multiple environments," said Walter Palhetas, SVP, Americas. "We will also showcase how Nexsan simplifies and improves digital media workflow, especially in content rich environments where performance and capacity are key requirements."
