Chelsio Demos 1.1 Million IO/s Storage Solution
With iSCSI target solution using Micron PCIe SSDs
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 2, 2012 at 3:25 pmChelsio Communications, Inc. will be showcasing the capabilities of its Unified storage Server (USS) software to enable high performance storage solutions with a demonstration next week at the Storage Networking World (SNW Spring) in Dallas, Texas.
The demonstration shows 1,100,000 IOPS performance with a simple and cost-effective iSCSI target solution that is built with off-the-shelf components.
The demonstration will include five iSCSI initiators (running MS Windows 2008 R2) accessing the performance iSCSI target through a generic 10GbE switch. The iSCSI target server includes a Chelsio T4 Unified Wire adapter, four enterprise PCIe SSDs from Micron Technology, Inc., and Chelsio’s USS software. IOmeter benchmarking software will be used to show the read/write performance of the system.
Comprised of off-the-shelf components, this solution demonstrated at SNW will show how resellers and integrators can use the USS software to construct a cost-effective, performance iSCSI target.
"PCIe flash-based solutions have proven to provide a dramatic performance boost for enterprise systems-evident by the demonstration Chelsio is showcasing at SNW," said Kevin Kilbuck, director of marketing for Micron’s NAND Solutions Group. "Micron’s customers choose our P320h PCIe SSD not just for best-in-class performance, but because they know it is designed to perform reliably in demanding enterprise environments."
"The combination of Chelsio USS software and offload silicon technology and SSDs shatters the expectations of what a customer would have to pay for a million IOPS storage solution," said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio. "USS software uniquely takes advantage of all the offload features of Chelsio’s Terminator architecture to enable an new level of price/performance."
The USS software supports CIFS, NFS, RDMA, HTTP, thin provisioning volumes, volume cloning, snapshots, instant restore from snapshots, volume encryption and replication compression.
