For server and data migration

InQuinox, LLC announced the 3.3 release of SanXfer.

This release incorporates additional customer and partner-driven requirements to support iSCSI booting, wizard visual and usability enhancements, and the company’s latest appliance, the SX3 designed to simplify server and data migration efforts.

iSCSI booting is now available within SanXfer since smarter network controllers have enabled the use of storage and servers in more efficient ways.

"SanXfer is the only product that automatically migrates servers into iSCSI booting environments," as stated by Deni Connor, founding analyst at Storage Strategies NOW.

Additional agility was added through speed enhancements that reduce server migration time by improving the core data movement mechanisms, as well as the heuristics used to determine how to optimize a migration from available resources.

SanXfer is faster:
Another significant enhancement to SanXfer 3.3 is the option to purchase it pre-installed on a hardware appliance. The SX3 appliance is pre-configured to support multiple 1GbE connections and dual 8Gb FC connections. Upgrade options support 10GbE and 16Gb FC interfaces. The SX3 is available in either a 2U rack-mount package or a desktop appliance.

"Our consulting partners provided the greatest input with regard to Ease of Use requirements, by directing our efforts to create the SX3 appliance for SanXfer. The SX3 contains enough horsepower to quickly map into existing and new environments thereby enabling migrations from one SAN (FC or iSCSI) to the other," stated company CEO Brad Hargett.

SanXfer now includes additional drivers for migrations directly into Cisco UCS platforms. Through the SanXfer 3.3 release, customers now have a strong server migration utility to support P2P, P2V, V2P, local-to-SAN booting, FC booting, iSCSI booting, and VM support (VMware, Hyper-V, and Xen). With SanXfer’s Data TranXfer option, there is the added benefit of heterogeneous data transfer support. SanXfer supports all major hardware manufacturers.
