EVault Cloud-Based Disaster Recovery Service

Guaranteed in four hours or less

EVault, Inc., a Seagate company, announced a four-hour option for its EVault Cloud Disaster Recovery Service (EVault CDR) with a guaranteed SLA.

CDR is a cloud-based disaster recovery managed service for mid-market organizations and remote or branch offices to securely recover critical systems and data in the cloud within 4, 24 or 48 hours, depending on service level.

The enhanced Recovery as a Service (RaaS) offering, formerly known as EVault RDR (Remote Disaster Recovery) Service, enables customers to gain remote access to their data in a secure, virtual hot cloud environment in the event of a site outage or disaster.

"We needed a reliable partner that could offer a secure, flexible, timely and economically reasonable offsite solution to protect our vital information," said Catherine Reilly, executive director of Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP.

"We already had confidence in EVault based on our experiences with the 24 hour recovery service we had been using for the past 18 months, and when we were confronted with a weekend HVAC shut down situation in our main office it was decided internally that we look to our trusted DR partner, EVault. The catch was we had less than two weeks to the shutdown. The EVault managed services team worked around the clock to meet our deadline, truly partnering with our in-house team, and EVault exceeded our expectations. In the event of a true disaster we clearly understand the high level of support we will receive and we are confident we will be able to recover our systems as needed in four hours or less. There is no question that EVault is the right choice for us," said Reilly.

The CDR four-hour managed service includes an SLA-backed guarantee for recovery in four hours or less and is beneficial for businesses in heavily regulated industries, such as health care, financial and legal services, that cannot tolerate extended outages of critical systems. All CDR customers with 4-, 24- or 48-hour service levels work with a team of EVault DR experts to guide them through the entire process – from implementation, DR planning and testing to the execution of system and data recovery.

"For many, DR was out of reach, and for others, it was a burdensome task that often felt like an expensive insurance policy. Today, cloud-based DR is poised to shake up legacy approaches and offer frustrated infrastructure and operations (I&O) professionals a great alternative," according to an independent Forrester Research, Inc. report, An Infrastructure And Operations Pro’s Guide to Cloud-Based Disaster Recovery Services, by analyst Rachel A. Dines, published March 20, 2012.

Features of EVault CDR include:

  • Managed, rapid recovery of systems and data in the cloud within 4, 24 or 48 hours, depending on service level, after a disaster, and guaranteed by an SLA.
  • A team of EVault disaster recovery specialists that extend IT resources, helping customers implement, plan, test and execute the disaster recovery process 24/7/365.
  • Remote access to applications in a secure, top tier, SSAE 16-compliant data center (‘warm’ site for 24- or 48-hour SLA; ‘hot site’ for 4-hour SLA) that extends the customer’s production environment into the EVault Cloud.
  • Proactive failover support provides a zero-downtime alternative for planned maintenance, site outages and upgrades.

CDR with a four-hour SLA is valuable for organizations located in disaster areas of the U.S. and Canada, such as the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf Coasts. Without a cloud-based backup and recovery facility located out of the region, away from the disaster, these companies are particularly vulnerable to interruptions in business operations.

"We believe this offering takes disaster recovery to the next level – the midmarket has never before been able to afford a hot site recovery though their business is no less mission-critical than enterprises with larger IT budgets," said Terry Cunningham, president and GM of EVault. "We helped create the RaaS industry with our Cloud DR offerings and we are now extending our leadership with a four-hour recovery time service option, which allows us to continue to meet the evolving needs of the mid-market and our 35,000-strong customer base."

The CDR Service is available with 4-, 24- and 48-hour SLAs and is available. Pricing depends on the type and amount of servers, data and VPN connections, and the length of the contract.
