Top slots for IBM, EMC and HP
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 21, 2012 at 2:56 pmThe Indian External Controller-Based (ECB) disk storage market totaled $72.3 million to represent a growth of 12.4 per cent over similarly placed figures in OND 2011 for 4Q11.
"The market was buoyed by aggressive spending from within the finance and the insurance vertical and buying from within the government vertical," said Aman Munglani, Research Director with Gartner Corp.‘s Data Center Infrastructure and Management Group.
IBM, EMC and HP occupied the top 3 slots and together accounted for close to 63 per cent of the overall ECB market.
For the year, the Indian ECB disk storage vendor revenue totalled $270.7 million in 2011, a 28.6 per cent increase from revenue of $210.5 million in 2010.
Among the top four vendors, IBM continued to lead the market, followed by EMC, HP and NetApp.
The outlook continues to look promising as the ECB disk storage market in India is forecast to grow at close to 21 per cent in 2012.
Gartner says worldwide ECB disk storage market grew 4.8 per cent in fourth quarter of 2011.
