Poundland Acquires NetApp FAS 2040 System
To secure 386 stores
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 20, 2012 at 3:00 pmPoundland Ltd,
a European single price discount retailer, has moved to a virtual server
environment with a NetApp, Inc. storage system to support the company’s plan to open
50 stores every year, adding to its
current 386 stores.
NetApp is replacing legacy SANs with a scalable storage solution which
addresses the needs of the growing business, supporting Poundland’s move to a
virtual server environment. This provides a HA solution which leverages its
existing backup technologies.
Poundland’s IT Services Manager, Matthew Sparks said: "When selecting a solution, NetApp suited our
requirements compared to the many other providers out there. The NetApp
solution addresses the challenges we were experiencing as a growing company
with a complex infrastructure and has the added benefit of providing
deduplication of data, which is very important to Poundland."
"Companies such as
Poundland are under pressure to keep pace with growing business demands and to
do more with fewer resources. NetApp’s storage solution will enable Poundland
to utilise virtualisation and improve cost savings, modernise its applications,
and consolidate its IT infrastructure to gain competitive advantage,"
said Laurence James, products, alliances and solutions marketing manager,
NetApp.
Installation of the systems began in January 2012 and should reach
full completion by April 2012. The NetApp provided storage systems are being
replicated between Poundland’s various geographic locations.
