TwinStrata, Inc., in cloud-based data storage, backup and disaster recovery solutions, is offering customers fast and flexible access to data stored on Google Cloud Storage via the TwinStrata CloudArray storage gateway.

TwinStrata has also released a free CloudArray virtual appliance capable of handling up to one-terabyte of data (and expandable to 50 petabytes), available for download. This extends TwinStrata’s compatibility with cloud storage providers to meet customers’ budget and service-level requirements.

Google Cloud Storage is a service for storing and accessing vast amounts of business data on Google’s advanced storage infrastructure. By using CloudArray in conjunction with Google’s Cloud Storage offerings, customers gain immediate access to enterprise-class cloud storage to accommodate data growth on demand, or to meet archiving, data protection and disaster recovery needs, while paying only for the storage they actually consume.

TwinStrata CloudArray leverages Google Cloud Storage features such as scalability, flexible security and sharing, fast data access, and reliable storage and networking to help companies escape the maintenance costs and data center overhead associated with traditional data storage and tape backups.

CloudArray provides multi-site data storage consolidation and disaster recovery solutions without the capital and administrative expense of traditional storage. The CloudArray iSCSI gateway inter-operates with applications including the most popular backup and archiving solutions, features in-flight and at-rest encryption, and also provides compression and deduplication technology that reduces stored data volume, minimizing remote storage and bandwidth requirements.

CloudArray is available as a virtual or physical appliance from TwinStrata. A free, 1-terabyte version of the CloudArray virtual appliance software is available. For a fee, the free 1TB CloudArray appliance can be expanded dynamically to manage up to 50 petabytes of data.
