Anritsu and RainStor in OEM Partnership
To manage communication networks for big data
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 9, 2012 at 2:57 pmRainStor, Inc., provider of big data management software, has formed an OEM partnership with Anritsu Corporation, provider of Operations Support Systems (OSS) for converged
networks.
RainStor’s Big Data management
capabilities enhance Anritsu’s Service Assurance products with a database that collects stores and analyzes huge volumes of communications data
while slashing storage, compute and operational costs. With
RainStor, Anritsu’s products now offer data management
capabilities, helping customers to reduce infrastructure cost while ensuring
they retain the detailed data required to improve business insight and deliver
enhanced service quality.
The ongoing boom in mobile data traffic created the requirement for
faster response times and more cost effective ways to handle the volume of
detailed information being generated by Anritsu’s Masterclaw monitoring system.
Anritsu looked for a solution to ensure that its
customers could retain this critical detail for as long as they wanted
to without having to invest in unreasonable levels of infrastructure in order
to run the database.
"It’s not the growth in
calls or SMSs that is driving data volumes but the massive increase in mobile
Internet access," said Neil Tomlinson, Director, Product Management at
Anritsu A/S. "It’s the proliferation
of smart phones and tablets that’s moving mobile browsing from the domain of
the power user into the hands of every subscriber that is making the
difference. That – with the advent of 4G and an ‘app for everything’ culture –
translates into huge volumes of data that CSPs have to understand to ensure a
good customer experience."
Anritsu customers can now store and manage amounts of detailed
information within its MasterClaw monitoring system in an economically viable
footprint – typically 10s of billions of records per day. Using RainStor,
MasterClaw retains details of every event in the network, enabling deeper
analysis in the event of service disruption and providing a level of subscriber
and network insight that would not be possible without a zero tolerance
approach to both history and detail.
RainStor delivers a 15x reduction in storage and a 5x reduction in
compute resources. Equally important, growth in traffic can now be addressed by racking and stacking additional servers without disruption to service.
"Anritsu builds
partnerships with technology innovators like RainStor who have clearly
developed features to meet the needs of fast growth communications
organizations," said Rick Kuhlbars, Global Partnership Manager at
Anritsu A/S. "By partnering with
RainStor, we are delivering a competitive advantage to our customers who need
to reduce their cost base while addressing the challenges posed by smart device
proliferation and 4G rollout."
"The communication sector has always
dealt with big data; probably before Big Data per se emerged as a discipline in
its own right. The storage and analysis of billions of records per day is a
fact of life for CSPs," said Tim Waterton, VP Strategic Alliances at
RainStor. "RainStor’s technology
addresses exactly that problem and is flexibly architected to run on a myriad
of platforms, reducing end customer TCO every single time. We are delighted to
partner with an industry leader like Anritsu to fundamentally improve the way
customers are able to manage big data."
