New NovaStor Backup Format for De-Dupe

On NovaBACKUP DataCenter 4.7 with Opendedup

NovaStor Software AG will present a new backup format that optimizes data deduplication performance at CeBIT 2012.

Corporations stand to reap major benefits through the reduction of data and capitalizing on the use of cost-effective storage systems.

New Backup Format for Low-cost Deduplication
NovaStor’s new backup format for NovaBACKUP DataCenter 4.7 guarantees superior deduplication rates for commonly used high-end storage appliances, but also achieves strong results while using more cost-effective storage solutions.

The combination of NovaBACKUP DataCenter with the free open source deduplication solution Opendedup and any low-cost storage system creates a vendor-independent entry into deduplication. By adapting to the algorithms of Opendedup, NovaBACKUP DataCenter achieves high deduplication rates with an optimized system performance. NovaStor’s solution supports both Windows and Linux backup servers.

Stefan Utzinger, CEO of NovaStor, said: "When using NovaStor products, companies remain independent of hardware manufacturers, and can quickly deploy new technologies into their environment. With this latest release we equip companies with the ability to reduce their amount of data in an extremely inexpensive, yet effective manner. Deduplication at an unbelievably low cost entry point."

NovaStor presents this new backup format for the first time in Hannover, Germany, at CeBIT 2012, 6 to 10, March 2012.
