For Office 365 SharePoint, starts at $495/year
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 27, 2012 at 2:51 pmMetaVis Technologies, Inc. announced the availability of SavePoint, an agentless SharePoint backup and archiving tool for Office 365 SharePoint.
SavePoint is a fast, secure and flexible way to keep a local backup of a cloud-based SharePoint Implementation. SavePoint also allows customers to restore SharePoint items, documents, lists, libraries and sites, including valuable metadata from a local drive.
Pricing for SavePoint starts at $495 per year.
"Most organizations need the ability to backup and access archived content with minimal business interruption – and this includes content that lives in the cloud, though this is an emerging use case. The ability to have a local copy of SharePoint data from Office 365 to ensure uninterrupted access and enable recovery beyond Microsoft’s retention periods could fill an interesting gap in the market," said Kathleen Reidy, Senior Analyst at 451 Research.
MetaVis SavePoint is agentless and is suited to backup SharePoint content stored in the cloud.
SavePoint allows users to:
- Backup and Restore SharePoint Content – Create ‘SavePoints’ of SharePoint content to local and cloud-based storage. This ensures that a company can quickly access content if there are hosted service interruptions; restore individual documents without needing to restore the whole environment and backup content for long periods of time.
- Archive SharePoint Sites – Archive and copy SharePoint content to a file system based on specific search criteria including metadata, version, author or retention information. The archive content can then be deleted from SharePoint freeing up space, enhancing system performance and improving search results.
- Restore Archived or Backed-up Content – Perform item level restore for deleted or long lost content without rolling back the whole SharePoint site making it for individual departments or sites.
"With MetaVis SavePoint, we have a local backup of our Office 365 SharePoint content and can immediately, and easily, recover a single document or our entire environment. Not only can we create a local backup of all our documents stored within SharePoint on Office365, but we also have all the metadata. This enables us to access content if there is an interruption of service and easily recover the entire site once Office365 is back up," commented Constantine Baugh-Ruschman, IT Help Desk, Center for Vein Restoration, in the treatment of varicose and spider veins with 16 locations across Maryland, Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Western Michigan.
Built on MetaVis Information Architecture Platform, SavePoint operates with the MetaVis family of products for SharePoint migration, administration, and information management. It supports all versions (hosted and premise based) of SharePoint 2010, 2007, Office 365.
MetaVis will be demoing SavePoint at SPTechCon, February 26-29, 2012 in San Francisco, CA.
