Global Distribution Presents UK First-Look Demos

Solutions from Active Storage, Atomos, Atto, Cambridge Imaging, Glyph, mLogic, Vicom

The Global Distribution Group, a value-added, distributor of content acquisition, storage, management, archive and delivery systems within the production and broadcast markets, is presenting a number of UK first-look demonstrations at BVE 2012, London, which runs from 14-16th February 2012.

Active Storage, Inc. recently launched the mMedia platform, a complete media creation storage platform for post and broadcast production that will get its first UK demonstration at BVE 2012. The mMedia platform centres round the enhanced ActiveSAN high-performance metadata controller appliance and adds two new products: mRAID, the RAIDstorage solution, and mVault, a 180TB archive expansion system.

Atomos, creator of the Ninja and Samurai 10bit field recorder, monitor and playback devices, announced its pocket-sized, battery powered Connect converters at IBC 2011. Global Distribution presents the first UK demonstration of these converters that are designed to simplify video interconnections.

Global Distribution also hosts first UK demonstrations of:

  • mLink from mLogic LLC, a Thunderbolt to PCIe expansion chassis in a sleek form factor, along with the mDock, the first docking station and backup solution for the MacBook Pro;
  • Orbital, a ground-breaking Enterprise Video Recording suite from Cambridge Imaging Systems (CIS) – for TV production companies, advertising agencies and broadcast newsrooms, Orbital captures broadcasts from off-air sources and creates clips and archives; and CIS’ Imagen2, a Digital Asset Management that can be used for ingesting, archiving and distributing large quantities of stills and video;
  • Glyph Production Technologies‘ new GPT50, a compact, performance reliable FireWire, USB 2.0 and eSATA hard disk solution;
  • Vicom Systems, Inc.‘s Vmirror and Vmeter, both must-haves for a SAN environment: the Vmirror is a high availability SAN appliance designed for Xsan, StorNext and MetaSAN storage systems where hardware mirroring, failover and failback are required for uninterruptable data access, while Vmeter allows administrators to control FC network bandwidth and streaming management from a central location;
  • ATTO Technology, Inc.‘s FastFrame 10GbE Network Interface Cards (NIC) working with an iMac over Thunderbolt, enabling iMac and MacBooks with the new connectivity to connect to high-speed network infrastructures;
  • Magma‘s forthcoming EB3T Thunderbolt to 3-slot PCIe chassis, showing for the first time in the EMEA region.

In addition the integrated features of the Intelligent Display System (IDS) will be on show, driving signage outside the various seminar theatres at BVE and TPS and throughout the Global Distribution stand.

Global Distribution will also present products from other leading manufacturers including ATTO Technology, Atempo, Cache-A, Promise Technology, Spectra Logic and G-Technology By Hitachi, as well as Global’s own Infinity range powered by Atempo and XenData.

Keith Warburton, Director, Global Distribution, said: "We are pleased to be back at the essential UK broadcast show, presenting some exciting new technologies that can make great improvements to a wide variety of content creation and data management workflows. We look forward to discussing the possibilities with existing and new customers."
