ISCorp Deploys Dataram XcelaSAN
Acquired on monthly subscription basis
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 2, 2012 at 3:00 pmDataram Corporation announced the deployment of its XcelaSAN storage solution at ISCorp. ISCorp is delivering cloud based applications and data processing solutions to customers throughout the U.S. and within the financial, healthcare and education markets.
ISCorp found that during peak utilization periods, web applications could create I/O storms that outpaced the SAN storage systems. This condition impacted application performance and associated service levels to customers. Further complicating this problem was the amount of personnel time the company had to allocate to address the peaks and spikes during high usage periods.
ISCorp took a look at products currently available in the market aimed at resolving its issues. It wanted to not just increase overall I/O capacity, but also to develop internal capabilities that would permit them to rapidly address I/O hotspots within the storage infrastructure. The goal was to have the ability to dynamically assign additional I/O capacity on demand to address I/O hotspots whenever they emerge, so that problems can be addressed in hours rather than days or weeks.
In comparing other solutions to XcelaSAN, ISCorp’s CTO Scott Rodenhuis said: "We needed to combine traditional storage growth and capacity management of SAN storage with new tools that would let us address usage spikes, software changes and other dynamic load conditions throughout our storage infrastructure. I see the XcelaSAN as a tool that can help us rapidly respond to these types of dynamic load conditions and ensure optimum application performance."
In addition to the superiority of the XcelaSAN solution, ISCorp took advantage of Dataram’s Acceleration on Demand program that offers customers the opportunity to derive all the benefits of XcelaSAN without any capital expenditure, but instead acquire it on a monthly subscription basis.
Commenting on this program, Rodenhuis stated: "This subscription took our risk out of the buying decision. We had very little risk and intend to use this indefinitely. We wish our other major OEMs would do business this way. I am not interested in hardware; I am interested in performance and service. The Acceleration on Demand option is much more flexible and this is how business will be done in the 21st century. It is more flexible than a lease; we have no long term commitment. The market changes too fast and this protects us."
In working with ISCorp on this implementation, Dataram’s Storage Manager Michael Moore commented: "ISCorp is an impressive company committed to providing its customers with innovative and leading price performance solutions. ISCorp has a market-leading vision and passion to deliver the absolute best solutions to its customers."
The implementation of XcelaSAN at ISCorp occurred during November of 2011 and is now operating in its production environment.
In discussing his experience with Dataram, Rodenhuis stated: "Customer satisfaction is the most important thing to us-we must have the tools to achieve this goal and make it happen. I am very satisfied with Dataram and the process they took me through for this installation. The Dataram team was professional, responsive to my needs and focused to deliver a quick and painless implementation."
