This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 26, 2012 at 2:55 pmSEPATON, Inc. announced growth in the enterprise data protection market.
Fueled by innovations that extend the capabilities of its platform, SEPATON experienced an acceleration of large enterprise adoption in both the U.S. and abroad across its existing base.
SEPATON reported that its S2100 product line of data protection solutions designed to safeguard critical data for enterprises with hundreds of TBs to PBs of data had an increase in overall PBs shipped compared to this time last year.
SEPATON experienced consecutive revenue growth each quarter of 2011 and was profitable during the last two quarters of the year. The company’s growth accelerated after its launch of version 6.0 software and the broadening of its product line with the new S2100-ES2 Series 2910 and S2100-DS3 platforms and multi-protocol support with Symantec OST and AIR replication.
"With a laser focus on addressing the unique challenges of data protection facing large enterprises, 2011 marked a year of significant achievements," said Mike Thompson, president and CEO, SEPATON, Inc. "Large enterprises continue to experience exponential data growth resulting in greater volumes of information to backup and restore, exceeding the capabilities of competing solutions. We invested aggressively in software technologies to meet the demanding requirements of evolving data protection complexities in large enterprises allowing our customers to avoid data protection ‘sprawl,’ and address new computing paradigms like Big Data backup requirements. We named Jeff Tofano, a top-tier CTO to the executive management team to drive technical direction and future product and architectural decisions. This role is critical as enterprise data protection continues to become more challenging with exponential data growth and the advent of Big Data. As a result of our investments and focus, we were able to win new marquee accounts and to expand our footprint in the installed base with large technology refreshes, upgrades and multi-year maintenance renewals. Our worldwide presence was strengthened with a new distribution agreement signed in China. We are very proud of our 2011 accomplishments and view our success as an affirmation of our strategy and proof of the unique value we deliver to large enterprises."
New Products
New in 2011, the S2100-ES2 with Version 6 of software delivers grid scalability of both performance and capacity; performance; multi-protocol support; reliability; and deduplication. The new product was designed as a platform to provide the data protection capabilities needed in today’s big data scale-out storage environments.
SEPATON also demonstrated support for OST AIR available in the latest version of NetBackup 7, allowing to deliver an integrated solution with NetBackup, facilitating backup to disk without tape emulation, and streamlining the backup and disaster recovery processes.
Additionally, SEPATON introduced the S2100-DS3 Series 1000 and 2000 systems. Designed to meet the needs of large enterprises with multiple remote locations, the DS3 gives enterprises the ability to deliver the same data protection to remote offices that have previously only been available to primary data centers.
Customer Expansion
During 2011, SEPATON expanded its footprint in vertical industries including financial, government, healthcare, energy, telco, manufacturing and more. Customers cited the ES2’s ability to deterministically backup enormous volumes of data with a single system, and the ability to deduplicate and replicate at fast speeds as key reasons for selecting the S2100-ES2 data protection platform over competitive offerings. New multi-million dollar wins were scored in addition to increased demand within its installed base. Additionally, sales in SEPATON’s OEM and reseller channels continue to strengthen driven by innovation of its enterprise technology. Outside of the U.S., SEPATON inked a strategic distribution agreement with Digital China Holdings, Ltd., a large integrated IT service providers in Asia.
"In 2011 SEPATON continued to evolve its strategy to address the complex data protection requirements of the world’s most demanding enterprises," stated Thompson. "In 2012, you’ll see SEPATON accelerate its execution to advance its leadership position by enabling the highest performance for Big Backup and providing the most cost-effective way for enterprises to protect large data volumes without adding administration cost or data center complexity."
