Malaysia’s Web Hosting Provider Shinjiru Adds R1Soft CDP

Web hosting provider Shinjiru Technology Sdn Bhd has introduced R1Soft CDP backups as an add-on service for its customers.

Shinjiru is a Malaysia’s Web hosting providers, delivering more than 1,500 servers and 500 virtual private servers last year.

Shinjiru’s CDP implementation centers on CDP’s Enterprise Edition 3.0, which features an industrial strength Disk Safe for protection against power failures and crashes. On the disaster recovery side, CDP incorporates bare-metal restore capabilities, through which the server can be restored directly from disk-based backup, with file-by-file restores.

"From the beginning, Shinjiru let us know that backup efficiency was one of the key attributes it was searching for in a backup solution. CDP 3.0 has definitely delivered on this front," said Domingo Martinez, global marketing manager for R1Soft, a division of BBS Technologies. "CDP has shaved significant chunks of time off of regular backups. Shinjiru has also noted reductions in restore times, whether bare metal or simultaneous restores. Ultimately, these efficiencies allow Shinjiru to better utilize its resources and improve customer satisfaction."

In discussing Shinjiru’s selection of R1Soft CDP, CTO Shaun L. praised the software’s performance: its quick-completing backups are light on Shinjiru’s network resources, thanks to CDP’s replication technology. CDP’s ease of administration was another big draw for Shinjiru, which has hundreds of servers to manage across multiple data centers. Through CDP’s Web interface, administrators can centrally manage the backup environment for up to 30 servers. The Explorer-style interface allows administrators to manage users, define backup schedules and policies, merge recovery points, perform restores, and more.
