Clarion Calls on virtualDCS and Vision Solutions

For Double-Take Availability protection and DR on HP SAN

Vision Solutions, Inc. announced that law firm Clarion is using Double-Take Availability from Vision Solutions to ensure the security and availability of its IT systems.

The solution was provided by virtualDCS, a cloud computing and services firm based in Leeds, UK, ensuring that data on the firm’s servers is captured and replicated across to a second set of servers.

Double-Take Availability creates a real time carbon copy of Clarion’s servers, including its operating systems, data and applications, so that in the event of server failure, data can be retrieved and applications such as email can be backup and running within minutes. These secondary servers are hosted as part of a virtual server implementation, based on VMware and a SAN from HP. In the event of a disaster affecting the main servers, the DRy plan can be carried out and critical applications can be up and running from around 45 minutes.

Nigel Stott, IT director at Clarion, said: "The IT services team at Clarion places a huge emphasis on our ability to provide round the clock access to IT systems for lawyers. We felt confident that virtualDCS not only understood our business and our disaster recovery needs but also provided an innovative, flexible and cost effective DR solution. The key benefit of this solution is  its ability  to allow us to make available critical business applications again shortly after any kind of systems failure."

Ian Masters, Sales Director, UK and Ireland, Vision Solutions, said: "Organisations of all sizes are looking at using virtualisation as part of their business continuity and disaster recovery plans, as it can reduce the cost of implementing a solution. Working with virtualDCS, Vision Solutions is providing real-time protection for business critical information and applications. Using this approach ensures that companies get the benefit of a full-scale business continuity and disaster recovery platform, but that they can cut the amount of hardware they require to support their applications."

Richard May, director of virtualDCS, said: "Clarion required a secure and responsive solution for its DR needs. We have provided the firm with a solution that drives down costs while safeguarding its business critical information."
