Delivering more bandwidth than all other vendors combined

DataDirect Networks, Inc. (DDN) announced continued HPC market leadership in providing high performance, high capacity, massively scalable storage systems to the largest global supercomputers, as ranked by the November 2011 edition of the TOP500 list.

The latest TOP500 reveals a 50 percent year-over-year increase in the number of petaflops powered by DDN among listed systems, underscoring the company’s continued leadership expanding in servicing Big Data, cloud and data-intensive applications. Furthermore, DDN storage technology now powers TOP500 computing on every inhabited continent as its worldwide sales and support coverage continues to expand.

"As our customers continue to develop new and transformative advances in medicine, research, entertainment, social media, and many other areas, DDN is honored to be selected as the storage and information technology of choice which helps make it all possible," said Alex Bouzari, CEO and co-founder, DataDirect Networks. "We are very pleased that forward-thinking leaders and luminaries at the world’s top supercomputing sites entrust DDN with powering the systems that drive their revolutionary research."

DDN is also the leading Lustre and GPFS storage platform of choice for the majority of the TOP500, powering many of the largest HPC file system deployments as well as scalable archive and visualization systems which support these supercomputers.

"DDN’s ongoing leadership in the Top500 is indicative of the industry’s trust in DDN to provide high performance data management at scale, including the leading parallel file systems," said Addison Snell, CEO, Intersect360 Research. "For more than a decade, DDN has built solutions for the highest levels of performance and scalability, and as a result they have become one of the important vendors in an era defined by an unprecedented surge in data-intensive computing."

DDN’s relentless focus for over a decade on solving the toughest problems in computing and Big Data has made it the choice for builders of leading-edge supercomputers. DDN plays a mission-critical role in industries such as oil and gas, financial services, design simulation and life science and research, enabling advanced scientific insight and powering breakthroughs in medicine, physics, energy and defense.

DDN’s customers include many of the world’s largest data-intensive computing and content service organizations. Inc. Magazine recently named DDN as America’s fastest growing private computer company with more than $100 million in annual revenue.
