Winchester Systems Thirty-Year Old

It started with 5MB HDD from Seagate.

Winchester Systems Inc. celebrated 30 years of operation.

Founded in 1981, Winchester Systems has been providing ‘Purpose-Built Storage’ that provides high performance and reliability at affordable prices to both commercial and military customers. The company’s FlashDisk RAID disk array is in its 11th generation and provides a  complement of data storage services and field tested dependability.

Starting with just a 5MB disk from Seagate, the company offered storage for users of Intel computers in 1981. Today the company offers targeted solutions for applications that are better served by a company with attentive and veteran professionals. Now the company offers disk arrays with capacity to 336 TB each,67,200,000 times the storage per array compared to the original product.

"We continue to serve those customers who prefer a solution that fits their needs better than standard commercial products," according to Mr. Joel Leider, the company’s chief executive officer. "We work with each customer to fashion a solution to their specific needs. It takes only a small investment of the customer’s time to enable us to offer a thoughtful solution and customers are delighted with the results," he elaborated."

"While our customer-focused approach is simple and timeless, we have adapted our products rapidly and continuously to harness the latest field-proven technologies," observed Mr. Jerry Namery, the company’s chief technology officer. "We now deliver over 2,500,000 times more storage per dollar than we did with our initial product in 1981 – over 63% growth rate compounded annually for 30 years. Adjusted for inflation, it is actually over 6,400,000 times more storage," he determined.

"Solutions we offer today including video surveillance, medical imaging, broadcast, remote data backup, e-mail servers, and web-based retail transaction systems were inconceivable and beyond science fiction when we started," observed Leider. "Applications were just text and database back then," he added.
