Actifio Opens Canadian Office
Signing several systems integration and IT solutions partners
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 23, 2011 at 2:57 pmActifio, Inc. announced
details of its North American expansion including the opening of a
new Canadian office and signing of several systems integration and IT
solutions partners across Ontario, Quebec and Alberta, Canada.
This momentum
follows Actifio’s recent announcement that it raised $33.5 million in an
oversubscribed Series C financing round.
Actifio’s
Canadian expansion is driven by the demand for a new breed of data management
and storage solution: PAS. Organizations are increasingly moving away from
traditional siloed tools used for backup, disaster recovery, deduplication and
business continuity in favor of the simple approach made possible by
the Actifio PAS platform, which reduces enterprise IT
costs and complexity. Actifio recently signed the following Canadian channel
partners:
- Alliance Technologies:
Alliance Technologies is a Toronto, Ontario-based solutions
provider serving clients since 1999. Their mission is to deliver innovative solutions and high value – they take the time to understand the

Big Data has
emerged as one of the primary data management challenges for organizations as
they seek to find faster, easier and more efficient ways to store, protect and
recover data to meet business requirements. Actifio’s PAS platform virtualizes
the management of data and consumerizes the operations to transform the data
center into an SLA-driven services organization. Currently addressing IT’s
pressing challenges such as backup, DR and business continuity, the PAS
platform will also manage test and development, analytics, compliance,
e-discovery and other business-critical requirements, creating a new category
of storage that virtualizes and manages copies of production
data.
"Exploding data growth, fueled in part by
public and private cloud initiatives, calls for a new and better way to manage,
protect and recover data," said Jim Sullivan, president of Actifio.
"By introducing virtualization into
data management, our PAS platform delivers an application-centric, SLA-driven
solution that decouples the management of data from storage, network and server
infrastructure, all while reducing costs by 10X. The PAS platform will help IT
organizations across Canada conquer the Big Data challenge while reducing costs
and preventing vendor lock-in."
Gerard
Maynard, CEO of Alliance Technologies, concurs with Sullivan’s assessment,
said: "The PAS platform is a
cutting-edge solution that delivers instant backup and recovery through virtualization.
IT teams that struggle with backup and disaster recovery issues light up with
excitement when we show them the benefits of the easy-to-use and highly
intuitive PAS solution. I look forward to introducing the PAS platform to law
firms, health care organizations and other concerns facing the Big Data
challenge."
Bradley
Brodkin, president of HighVail, believes that Actifio’s PAS platform will have
a promising future in the Canadian market: "Customers will be intrigued by the PAS concept, which offers one single
data protection system with a single management console to maintain and manage
all copy data. We increasingly find that IT managers want to eliminate clutter
and realize greater efficiencies. Adopting PAS will also serve as a valuable
business enablement tool for us, creating opportunities to deliver new data
management services and recognize related revenue opportunities."
"Many Canadian organizations are looking for
a better way to manage and protect their data," added Yves Paquette,
president and CEO of NoviPro. "We believe that Actifio’s PAS platform will
offer a highly effective, cost-efficient solution for their complex backup,
disaster recovery and continuity needs."
