Caringo and Ctera Together
For delivering CAS cloud storage
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 14, 2011 at 2:50 pmCaringo, Inc. has integrated Caringo CAStor object storage software with CTERA Cloud Attached Storage
gateways and CTERA Portal to provide a cloud
storage solution.
The
combination of Caringo’s object storage with CTERA’s cloud platform
results in cloud storage capable of delivering the ease of management,
performance, integrity and scale necessary for business users of all sizes.
CAStor’s ability to leverage any x86 server hardware, deliver up to 98% disk
utilization, and the ability to incrementally scale up or down, results in
flexible cloud infrastructure that reduces CAPEX and OPEX.
"Partnering with Caringo pairs our innovative
CTERA Portal with the market-leading object storage platform," said
Liran Eshel, CEO and co-founder of CTERA Networks. "Their highly automated approach, combined with our cloud storage
gateways, enables a cloud storage solution that can easily grow and deliver
data protection and file sharing with LAN-speed performance and end-to-end
security."
"The key characteristics to look for in a
cloud storage solution are the ability to easily and cost effectively manage
infrastructure and service utilization," said Mark Goros, CEO at
Caringo. "We achieve this through
our partnership by combining Caringo’s highly automated and self optimizing
object storage with CTERA’s robust cloud storage gateways and portal."
"We are excited at the opportunity to scale
up our cloud storage offering with the integrated CTERA-Caringo solution,"
says Jonathan Kearns, executive vice president, operations at CloudSilo LLC, a
cloud service provider based in Tuscon, AZ. "With the combined solution, we’ll be able to offer cloud storage
services to a growing number of businesses and channel partners, and meet
demand as it grows."
The Caringo
object storage platform powered by CAStor is software that enables big storage
for unstructured data by utilizing any x86 server hardware or any combination
of hard drive type or size. Service providers using Caringo as storage
infrastructure for their cloud storage service can scale incrementally up or
down a single hard drive at a time and can upgrade and retire hardware without
service downtime. Caringo’s management, optimization, and self-healing
technology results in a unified storage system with a single namespace that can
scale to billions of objects and petabytes per location all
managed by a single system administrator.
CTERA Portal
empowers cloud service providers to offer hybrid on-premise/cloud storage and
data protection solutions to their SMB customers with complete control and
minimal operational overhead, and based on their cloud infrastructure of
choice. Service providers can create service plans, centrally managing all
aspects of backup and recovery, synchronize cloud and local drives, subscriber
on-boarding, service provisioning, status monitoring, billing and reporting.
The CTERA Portal works with CTERA’s line of cloud storage gateway appliances
and managed agents.
