He worked for EMC and Avamar.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 8, 2011 at 2:54 pmVirsto Software announced it has appointed Kaycee Lai as Vice President of Sales.
In this role, Lai will be responsible for global sales, direct and indirect strategy and operations, and will implement sales processes to scale with Virsto’s accelerating customer acquisition.
"Virsto developed the first and only multi-hypervisor storage virtualisation software solution built for virtual machines, delivering a truly differentiated solution for provisioning and managing storage in virtualised and cloud environments," said Mark Davis, CEO at Virsto. "We’ve experienced phenomenal growth as a company and we are looking forward to accelerating our growth in the VMware market with Kaycee on board. His proven leadership abilities, sales expertise and background in storage & virtualisation makes him a great fit for this role."
Prior to Virsto, Lai was VP of Sales at Delphix, a pioneer in database virtualisation. Previously, Kaycee worked for EMC and ran all of Avamar sales for Asia Pacific and Japan, where he built the business from infancy to the fastest growing product line at EMC in the region. After his success with Avamar, his responsibilities increased to include EMC’s entire backup, recovery, and archive portfolio. As general manager for a $120 million business unit, Lai managed a staff of over 100 people in 10 countries, with 36 percent year-over-year growth. Kaycee also played a key role in Microsoft‘s capturing 50% of the NAS market.
Kaycee earned his bachelor’s degree from Pomona College in Claremont, CA.
"Organisations are struggling to deliver agile, efficient IT services to their business partners. Server virtualisation has delivered increased agility and better resource utilisation which has delivered positive impact for many companies. The unintended downstream effects that virtualisation has had on storage are now a critical impediment to client virtualisation as well as private and hybrid cloud deployments. I believe Virsto has the ideal solution to transform existing hypervisors into storage hypervisors, and change the economics of storage in virtualised environments. I am thrilled to be a part of it," said Lai.
