Gen-i, in New Zealand, Launches ReadyCloud
Managed online backup service starting at $1.70/GB/month
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 5, 2011 at 3:23 pmGen-i launched ReadyCloud Backup, a private cloud backup and restoration service, and the latest offering in its suite of ReadyCloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service solutions.
It provides businesses with a secure and cost effective solution for backing up data, with the flexibility to scale to meet changing backup demands. Business data is backed up to Gen-i’s highly resilient, carrier-grade data centres. In the event of data failure, ReadyCloud Backup provides single step restores from disk and efficient data recovery for critical business applications.
Research has shown that 30 percent of IT costs are associated with backup and up to 20 percent of traditional on-premise restores from backups fail. Business data is constantly at risk of corruption from security threats such as viruses, and of physical loss as a result of natural disasters or human error.
Leanne Buer, Gen-i Head of Networked ICT Products, says: "ReadyCloud Backup adds real value for clients by providing access to a sophisticated, highly managed, resilient backup and recovery solution that minimizes business downtime, ensures business continuity and meets compliance and performance requirements."
"With Gen-i’s ReadyCloud Backup, clients have access to a true end-to-end back up and restore service that integrates security, monitoring and management with core back up and restore capability, all from a single provider. Clients can leverage their existing assets while benefiting from our expertise and ongoing investment in world class infrastructure."
"Gen-i is focused on helping clients navigate through the complexities of ICT services and cloud technologies to ensure they benefit from the opportunities that on-demand computing enables. Our clients trust us to provide end-to-end value, and we’re committed to delivering easy to use solutions that offer real business benefits for our clients," she said.
Chris Quin, CEO of Gen-i Australasia, said that the new capability reinforces Gen-i’s reputation for delivering innovative, flexible and sustainable fibre-based solutions for Australasian businesses.
"With the roll-out of UFB across regional and metro New Zealand, more and more businesses are looking for ICT solutions that harness fibre speeds to deliver exciting new applications in areas such as cloud computing, videoconferencing and collaboration, remote working and business continuity," said Quin.
"We advise clients on the best mix of on-premise, outsourced or fully hosted services to ensure they get the best value from their existing assets and the new cloud opportunities. Our clients also realize that what’s connecting them to the cloud is important. Our cloud services are based in data centers here in New Zealand, connected by hybrid fibre, copper and mobile networks, and managed by dedicated local people who understand their clients’ businesses."
"We are committed to providing business value and measurable benefits to help our New Zealand and Australian clients scale their ICT capability to meet market demand and grow their bottom line," he said.
Noel Leeming Group’s IT manager, Darrin Harper, says: "To minimize downtime in our business, we are seeking ways to easily, quickly and cost effectively ensure that our data is appropriately protected. ReadyCloud Backup provides us with a highly secure, flexible solution that can scale as our business grows. Knowing that Gen-i’s local team of experts is managing our data gives us reassurance that we’ll have prompt access to reliable backups with minimum disruption to business, so that we can focus our resources on being competitive in the marketplace."
ReadyCloud Backup is delivered as a pay-for-use service model. Protected back-up usage charges start at $1.70 per GB per month (excluding GST).
